CBS newswoman sexually assaulted by Cairo mob

During celebration of Mubarak's resignation in Tahrir Square, protesters chant "Jew! Jew!" at Lara Logan who suffered "brutal beating."

------ My Thoughts -----------

Some Celebration, eh?

This is what we have to look forward to as freedom captures the Middle East?

Has ANYONE thought what might follow the fall of these leaders?

I'm no fan of the current leaders in most of the mid-east, but I'm also no fan of people who dismiss women's rights or others ability to follow any faith they choose.

We should be cautious who we support in these revolts.... we can always end up with leaders much worse than what we already knew existed. Or even worse - MOB RULE.

Doesn't anybody care about the plight of women in these nations? About the safety of Israel as so many anti-Jew individuals potentially vie for control in any of these nations?

I don't understand how so many Americans can automatically view these revolts as "good" ... they could be good but they could also be much, much worse than what we were already dealing with.

I am so tired of my country being so hypocritical. We criticize our own society for so-called human rights abuses and yet tolerate much worse existing in other societies all in the name of "culture" or "religion".

Bullshit - abuse is abuse is abuse and it's time people in this country step up and call it out for what it is.

Come on people - find your moral center, your principals - and stay with them. Apply them to EVERYTHING and EVERYONE .... others need not worship the same deity as you, others need not worship at all ... but they do need to not attack anyone using their religion as an excuse.

That is precisely the opposite of worship ... that's hate, pure and simple. Whether causing harm to another human being is done via a so-called Christian group or any other religion - it is ALWAYS wrong. And when it's done in the name of one's GOD - it's simply EVIL!!!!

Will we ever stop pushing these people around?

Letter From Washington - Tea Party Doesn't Need Votes to Win U.S. Elections - NYTimes.com

Boston Tea Party.Image via Wikipedia
I'm not a "Tea Party" member, in fact I don't consider myself a "member" of any party these days - but I don't understand why major news outlets can't get their info correct. From those I've spoken to & research I've done - the Tea Party isn't "anti-immigration" - they are "anti-ILLEGAL-immigration" ... big, big, big difference.

 Talk about "spin" ...

Get Testing!!

Diagram of the HIV virus.Image via WikipediaAccording to a story published by Reuters, it is now estimated by the CDC that 1 in 5 Gay men are carrying the HIV virus - and many of them don't even know it!!

Read the full story here: reuters.com and then encourage all your gay friends & loved ones to get tested.

From the article:

The CDC recommends that gay and bisexual men of all ages get an HIV test each year, and men at highest risk -- those who have multiple sex partners or use drugs during sex -- get tested every three to six months.

"This alarming new data provides further evidence that prevention efforts for gay men have not been adequate to meet the growing epidemic and should be dramatically scaled up," said Carl Schmid of the nonprofit AIDS Institute.

These are scary statistics and knowledge will be a determining factor in bringing these numbers down.

Eat It : reason.com

In the above link two women are claiming "racial discrimination" because they were refused service at a Florida bar for food.  However, according to the owner of the bar - nobody is served food there because they don't even have a food service license!

If the bar owner is telling the truth - then this is a perfect example of people being way too quick to charge others with prejudice (be it racial, sexual or gender based - the type of prejudice doesn't matter - simply that many of various backgrounds are too quick to claim it).

If however the two ladies are telling the truth then this would be a perfect example of a place of business that needs to be hung out to dry as this type of legitimate prejudice needs to finally be eradicated from our society.

My reason for pointing this case out is that it seems to me, with no further evidence, that the bar owner is the one to default believing simply because it's too easy of a justification to prove.  If the place of business has no food on hand, has no means of preparing food and regular customers can testify to the fact that one never gets food there - a very simple investigation would show either the truth or lie behind that statement.  It would be beyond stupid to claim just a reason for denial of service when all any investigation would have to do is look at the facility.

Reid: Gillibrand is 'hottest member'

I hate this kind of of stuff. Why are women still having to endure this? I love how so many males think this is a compliment when in reality - it's just putting our looks above our accomplishments. We struggle to be an active, accomplished member of society & the notice we get is whether or not we are "hot".... so stupid.

About Me

My photo
I'm a lover of almost all literture, art, music, theatre and film. I split my sports loyalties between my two favorite places I've ever lived meaning I'm an avid fan of the Red Sox and the NY Giants. I watch very little TV except for the Food Network and live events (news, sports, concerts, etc). I am a big fan of PBS though (esp when my kids were little) and I do have a few select shows I follow: LOST, Scrubs and The Office being them. I talk too much, love to cook, love a good wine, tend to drive a little too fast and love my friends and family dearly. I'm fiercly loyal but quick to leave if someone becomes a person I can't trust. I'm a Sagittarius and I fit the sterotype of that sign completely.
